Kiwi House

Pukaha's kiwi house is home to Manukura - a rare white kiwi who is the only one in the world in a kiwi house. She lives in there with another North Island Brown kiwi, Turua.

Manukura is part of Pukaha's captive breeding population. Although she and Turua have not produced any chicks, any that they do produce in the future will go out to live in the Pukaha reserve when they reach release weight of 1.2 kilos.

Find out all about Operation Nest Egg and captive breeding for kiwis at Pukaha. We have a kiwi talk daily at 12 noon in the kiwi house.
